Though rated as the #2 show in the first season it lost the competitive fight to Perry Como the following year and ended after only 39 episodes. Fess Parker Sings Davy Crockett


Davy Crockett was the first television miniseries which appeared in 5 hour long parts on the Disneyland television show. It became a big hit and made stars of Fess Parker in the title role and Buddy Ebsen as his sidekick George Russel. The series, though presented in black and white, was filmed in color at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with the first three episodes combined to create a theatrical color movie Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier that was also a success.

Joyce Brothters, an unknown housewife who had an interest in boxing appeared on the $64,000 Question and became the only woman to ever win the prize. Her popularity on the quiz show spun into a TV show, radio talk show and a syndicated column that ran for over 50 years. Dr. Joyce Brothers
